While less well-known than the cookies, Girl Scouts can also sell Fall Product (candy, nuts, magazines and more) to earn reward prizes and troop funds. Troops receive 15% of all sales! And of course, they learn and practice those goal-setting and marketing skills! A volunteer from each troop serves as the Troop Fall Product Manager, and works closely with the Service Unit's Fall Product Manager to coordinate sales for the scouts in the troop.
The products typically include Girl Scout-branded nuts, chocolates and candies, as well as other specialty products that vary annually (e.g. magazines, Bark Box dog toys & treats, stationary, tumblers). Just as with cookies, scouts can sell in-person and/or online. The sales calendar lasts only a couple of weeks and is less complicated than selling cookies. For details on the yearly program, visit: GSWW Fall Product. For dates specific to our Service Unit, visit our calendar.
Once they become Brownies, scouts can plan and participate in their own money earning activities. These can include sales of handmade products, vending food at a GSWW event, providing badge or journey workshops for other troops, and providing services for a fee or suggested donation. There are a number of GSWW Guidelines and Requirements, as well as an application. Note that troops must have participated in either cookie or fall product sales in order to earn money in other ways.
