It’s hard to learn when you’re hungry. There are more than 300 students enrolled in the Edmonds School District that are homeless. Their last meal of the week is often LUNCH on the last day of the school week. Many won’t eat again until the following MONDAY … UNLESS YOU HELP US HELP THEM.
Please help Girl Scout Troop # 41002 Provide Weekend Meals for Homeless Edmonds Students! Our troop is conducting a FOOD DRIVE to help support students in the Edmonds School District who are served by the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act Program. The Edmonds School District’s McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act Program coordinator collects and delivers food to these children to get them through the weekend. When they return to school on Monday, they have the energy they need to learn. We Need YOUR Help Please donate ready-to-eat foods! Where: Top Foods on 220th and Hwy 99 (Aurora Ave) When: Any time from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, January 11th. If you can’t make it then, or have a bigger donation, contact our troop at firstname.lastname@example.org. We need foods that are ready to eat and don’t require heat or other cooking to make them safe to eat. They also must be in single portion sizes. We particularly need main courses. Here are some ideas: • Pop top soups/ravioli (Chef Boyardee for example) • Tuna/salmon/chicken salad in single serving bags or pop-top cans • Cereal in individual boxes • Fruit cups, applesauce and other fruits or vegetables with pop-top/easy open tops • Jell-o/pudding, ready-made • Granola bars, dried fruit (such as small packages of raisins), and small bags of nuts • Crackers/Saltines in small packages • Shelf-safe milk (it comes in small boxes) • Juice boxes • Bottled water Click here for Complete Info:FOOD DONATIONS 41002
