Choosing a Camp Names
This process started many years ago as our founder, Juliette Low, took her girls camping. It was considered disrespectful to call women by their given names. So “Daisy” chose a camp name for the girls to call her.
These names are very important and have significant meaning for the people who have chosen them. To alleviate duplicate names and confusion among the younger girls we have started a list for first time camp name users to check to make sure their chosen name isn’t being used. We ask that the girls do not choose a camp name until they have taken the core Program Aide training. This way they won’t be disappointed when a girl or adult ahead of them takes the name she had her heart set on.
