Membership Recruitment Coordinator (Marysville)

$15.00 per hour, temporary, part-time (varies 10-20 hours per week)

Girl Scouts of Western Washington is seeking an advocate of Girl Scouts in the Snohomish County area to join the North Region team as a Membership Recruitment Coordinator.  This individual will present the benefits of Girl Scouting at recruiting events in Snohomish County and Whidbey Island. This is a part-time, temporary position anticipated to be needed from December 2013 through May 2014.  The work schedule will vary depending on the number of recruiting events, but would typically be between 10-20 hours per week.  Recruiting events are typically held evenings and weekends at locations in the community.  Mileage is reimbursed.

Essential Functions:

Plan and implement events designed to engage new girls and volunteers in Girl Scout activities, including troops, camp and special programs. Work in partnership with local volunteers, when available.

Support the on-boarding of new volunteers and formation of new troops

Make contact with schools, organizations, businesses to secure authorization for distribution of Girl Scout marketing materials

Support marketing of Girl Scout activity including:  facilitate the printing and distribution of school recruitment flyers, online volunteer postings, emails, letters, posters, press releases and other tools.

Confidently present to diverse groups the essence of Girl Scouts and the specifics of volunteering with Girl Scouts.

Support volunteers as requested with event planning, preparing materials for volunteer use at recruitment events.

In addition to the above, perform other duties as assigned.


·         High school diploma or equivalent

·         Proficient in Word and Access or other database system

·         Good persuasive, public speaking skills and comfortable speaking to groups

·         Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize deadlines

·         Experience as a Girl Scout volunteer and/or other knowledge of the Girl Scout organization required

·         Availability to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends

·         Experience in public relations, marketing or sales preferred

·         Strong interpersonal skills to ensure effective interactions with individuals at all levels and backgrounds

·         Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion

·         Valid driver’s license, vehicle in working condition, proof of insurance, and the ability to fulfill timely and extensive travel requirements across widespread regional geography (Snohomish County and Whidbey Island).

·         Maintain membership in Girl Scouts

·         Satisfactory results from criminal background search
