Caring and Sharing Patch

Attached is the Caring and Sharing Patch Flier.  This is a Patch you earn for doing community service with your troop.  Orders are due at our next Leader Meeting in February.  You do NOT need to have everything done before ordering.  Your troop can continue to work on service projects and once they have done the number required for their level you can award them the patch.  The patch goes on the back of the vest.

World Thinking Day

World Thinking Day is February 22What is World Thinking Day?

Since 1926, Girl Scouts and Girl Guides around the world have spent February 22nd thinking of each other and expressing thanks and appreciation for Scouting around the world. February 22nd was chosen as it was the birthday of both Lord Baden-Powell (who founded Boy Scouts) and his wife, Olave Baden-Powell, who was the World Chief Guide (for Girl Guiding & Girl Scouting). On World Thinking Day, girls from around the world learn about other cultures and (in most countries) make small donations (traditionally pennies) to the Girl Scouting/Guiding movement. Read more

Pinewood Derby

Service Unit 245

16th Annual Pinewood Derby

Do your Girl Scouts (grades 4-12) like to build stuff out of wood? Like some problem solving fun? Friendly competition? Like to design objects that go ZOOM?! This is a great activity for a girl and a special adult to work on together over school break and create a car for our SU’s 16th Annual Pinewood Derby on Feb. 13. It takes at least 6 hours to build a car; more if you are aching to become the next PWD Cool Designer of the Year…..this is what you start with….

Turn it onto something like one of these…

We will have cool trophies like these for 1st place, 2nd place and 3rd place or Coolest Car, voted by your fellow Girl Scouts like these…

Ok, now it is your turn to download the paperwork and get you car started.  If you have any questions or need some more direction, please let me know. Karin aka Chicken Little, 206-719-7383 /

Giving Tree

Dear Troop Leaders,

We are troop 44342, and this year we are hosting the service unit giving tree program. We have decided to hold a Teen Giving Tree for Holly house. We heard that last year 3/4 of the teens did not receive gifts. When we heard this we knew what we had to do. Hold a drive specifically for older kids ages 9-18. Could you imagine watching your younger siblings open gifts on Christmas morning and there isn’t one for you? It’s heartbreaking! Read more
